[ad_1] Two nurses on Long Island are accused of forging COVID-19 vaccination cards and pocketing more than USD 1.5 million from the scheme, prosecutors and police said. Julie DeVuono, the owner of Wild Child Pediatric Healthcare in Amityville, and her employee, Marissa Urraro, are both charged with felony forgery, and DeVuono also is charged with offering a false instrument for filing. Both were arraigned Friday. Urraro’s lawyer, Michael Alber, urged people not to rush to judgment about the allegations and said his client is a well-respected nurse. “We look forward to highlighting the legal impediments and defects of the investigation,” he said Saturday. “It’s our hope that an accusation definitely doesn’t overshadow the good work Miss Urraro’s done for children and adults in the medical field.” A messages seeking comment was left with DeVuono’s attorney. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said DeVuono and Urraro handed out fake vaccination cards, charging USD 220 for adults and USD 85 for children. DeVuono, a nurse practitioner, and Urraro, a licensed practical nurse, entered the false information into the state’s immunisation database, he said. Prosecutors said the nurses forged a fake card showing a vaccine was given to an undercover detective but never administered the vaccine to the detective. Law enforcement officers searched DeVuono’s home and said they seized about USD 900,000 in cash and a ledger showing profits of more than USD 1.5 million from the scheme, which began in November 2021. “I hope this sends a message to others who are considering gaming the system that they will get caught and that we will enforce the law to the fullest extent,” Tierney said in a statement with other officials. [ad_1] As many as 552 liquor shops, out of 849 permitted vends, have been opened till January 28 under the Delhi government’s new excise policy, official sources said.The policy was implemented on November 17 last year. An updated list of all the functional liquor vends has also been uploaded on the excise department’s website. Under the new excuse policy, the liquor business in the city was completely handed over to private players wherein they can open 849 spacious and swanky vends in 32 zones having an area of at least 500 square metres. Such outlets will also allow walk-in facility to consumers where they can choose the alcohol brand of their choice as they do at shopping malls. The Delhi BJP, which is in power in the three civic bodies – North, East and South – had been opposing the policy by alleging that liquor shops have been opened in violation of norms. Municipalities have also launched a crackdown on liquor shops, which they said were set up “illegally”. According to civic authorities, till January first week, the three civic bodies have sealed nearly 25 shops and issued notices against around 130 such establishments. “Our crackdown against illegal liquor shops continues. Yesterday, we issued notices against several liquor shops for unauthorised construction and violation of building norms,” SDMC standing committee chairman B K Oberoi told PTI. The Delhi government had moved out of retail business of liquor under the new policy through privatisation of all 849 liquor vends, more than half of which were run by its four agencies earlier. Recent reports suggest this has resulted in distorted focus, plummeting levels of motivation, and even depression among women.  But, there’s no room for despair. Here are some simple tips to help you tide over these tough times, and change adversity to advantage.  Health is Wealth Lack of physical movement when working from home could cause major health issues. The time saved from your daily commute could be spent on physical and mental exercises. Seek medical help when you notice less than optimal bodily and mental functioning. Drink water at regular intervals. Do not skip or delay your meals. Sleep well. Talk, Talk, Talk Find time to talk to friends and family openly about the challenges you might be facing – at work or at home. Be candid with your team about hurdles and shortfalls just as you would share accolades. Maintain a steady cadence with them for chit-chat just like you would do over coffee in the office.
