The latest bus order is in addition to the previous order of 50 e-buses received from the corporation, PMI Electro Mobility said in a statement on Tuesday.The latest tender for 9-metre 100 e-buses was floated by the corporation in February 2021. PMI Electro Mobility has been awarded the tender for providing, maintaining and operating 100 electric buses for 10 years by the corporation. These buses are equipped with advanced features such as CCTV cameras, air suspension, Real Time Monitoring System (RTMS), and several other safety provisions, as per the company.Incorporated in 2017, PMI Electro Mobility claims it is the only original equipment manufacturer for all three models for standard, mid and mini buses in the country. “PMI has already been running 25 electric buses in Rajkot since 2021 and will soon add another 25 buses, to complete the existing order by this month.”The latest tender to supply an additional 100 buses is a testimony to our expertise in manufacturing and operating high-quality electric buses,” Manvi Jain, Head of Corporate Affairs at the company, said. The 40,226 new cases reported Wednesday marked the country’s highest daily jump in more than two months, although hospitalisations and deaths remain stable. Baek Gyeongran, South Korea’s top infectious disease expert, attributed the rising case counts to people’s waning immunities following vaccinations and prior infections and a major removal of social distancing measures since April as the nation wiggled out of an omicron surge. Health workers are also witnessing a “rapid spread” of BA.5, which is seen as the most transmissible variant of omicron yet, Baek said. South Korea had previously given second booster shots to people who are 60 or older and those with compromised immune systems. Officials are now expanding the eligibility of those shots to people who are 50 or older and all adults with pre-existing medical conditions. Weeklong quarantines will be maintained for people who test positive. Officials say the country may see daily case counts of 200,000 by mid-August or September if infections continue to grow. However, they don’t have immediate plans to meaningfully elevate social distancing restrictions, which have been effectively stripped down to an indoor mask mandate over the past months. Baek, the commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, said the government will focus on expanding booster shots and securing larger supplies of antiviral pills to suppress hospitalizations and deaths. [ad_1] A faculty member at St Stephen’s College stated that the college has undermined its own constitution when it entered into a legal battle with the Delhi University without consulting the college governing body. The charge was levelled by Nandita Narain, an assistant professor at St Stephen’s College, who in a letter to the governing body chairperson, called the move by the college a ‘gross violation’ of its constitution. In a letter to Bishop Prem Chand Singh, Narain, also a member of the college governing body, also questioned whether the college followed the procedure for the reappointment of principal John Varghese. The college had recently filed a writ petition challenging a Delhi University’s letter to it asking it to withdraw its prospectus for the undergraduate courses for the academic year 2022-23. As per the newly-brought entrance-based admission system, the college was asked to admit students giving 85% weightage to Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and 15% weightage to college interview for its unreserved seats. The CUET-UG will be conducted from July 15 to August 10, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced last week. St Stephen’s College and Delhi University have been at loggerheads over the admissions process with the former insisting on retaining its right to conduct interviews for admission of all categories of students. Narain in her letter called it surprising that the governing body was not informed by the college about its decision to file a writ petition against the university. “Initiation of legal proceedings in the matter of admissions without the prior approval of the College Governing body is, in my view, in gross violation of Clause 15 of our College Constitution,” she wrote. [ad_1] Missing consensus estimates, IT major HCL Technologies on Tuesday posted an 8.6% fall in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,283 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, against Rs 3,593 crore posted in the previous quarter.Ahead of the results, the company’s share prices hit a 52-week-low, but closed 1.7% down on the NSE. A consensus estimate of Bloomberg analysts were expecting the firm to post a net profit of Rs 3,320.15 crore for the quarter under review. However, the firm’s net profit on a year-on-year basis rose 2.4% to Rs 3,205 crore, HCL Technologies said in a statement. During the quarter under review, the company’s revenues rose 3.8% to Rs 23,464 crore on a quarter-on-quarter basis from Rs 22,597 crore recorded in the March quarter, and 16.9% rise fromRs 20,068 crore posted during the comparable year-ago quarter. “As technology becomes central to lives and businesses, HCL is accelerating the digital transformation journeys of its clients. We continue to pursue our growth strategy with a sense of purpose and responsibility toward our stakeholders and communities,” Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson at HCL Technologies, said. During the reporting quarter, the company’s Ebitda fell 1.5% to Rs 4,975 crore fromRs 5,053 crore posted in the March quarter and down 1.7% from Rs 5,062 crore posted in the year-ago quarter. The company’s board also approved a dividend ofRs 10 per share. “We have started FY23 on a strong note with an overall growth of 2.7% q-o-q and 15.6% y-o-y in constant currency. Our services business continues to have robust growth momentum, growing at 2.3% q-o-q and 19.0% y-o-y in constant currency, driven by our digital engineering and digital application services with cloud adoption being a horizontal theme across all services and verticals,” HCL Technologies CEO and managing director C Vijayakumar said. “Our new bookings grew 23.4% y-o-y supported by a good mix of large- and mid-sized deals and our pipeline remains near record high. Our operating margin came in at 17%. We have put in place the right measures that will improve our profitability going forward,” he added. HCL Tech added 6,023 freshers in Q1, while its total headcount stood at 210,966 as of June end. The company’s attrition rate rose to 23.8% as of June quarter on the last-12-month basis, a rise from 21.9% in the March quarter and 11.8% in same quarter of last year. For Q1, the total contract value (TCV) of new deal wins stood at $2.05 billion, recording a 23.4% y-o-y growth, of which services’ TCV stood at $1.95 billion, enabled by seven net new large deal wins.The stock has lost about 30% of its value so far in 2022, compared with 7.5% fall clocked by the Nifty50.
